What happened

On May 19, 2026, Visterra Landscape Group announced a strategic investment in Clover Landscape Group, a commercial landscaping company in Huntsville, Alabama. Clover now operates as Visterra's Clover Huntsville branch and continues to serve commercial customers across greater Huntsville, and the deal makes Huntsville the platform's newest operations hub in the Southeast. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The company

Denny Langston and Ben Elliott founded Clover in 2022. It serves office campuses, multifamily, industrial, HOA and retail properties across north Alabama, and its work runs from grounds maintenance and turf and tree care to design-build enhancement led by an in-house landscape designer. Every client is assigned a dedicated account manager, and the company prepares multi-year improvement plans and budgets for the properties it maintains.

The company is new; its founders are not. Elliott, originally from Atlanta, has worked in landscaping since 1994 and has managed commercial maintenance for properties around Huntsville and Madison. Langston, from Gulf Breeze, Florida, earned a bachelor's degree in environmental design and a master's in landscape architecture from Auburn University, and has worked in the industry since 2001.

Langston said the partnership gives Clover's team "access to the scale, resources, and capabilities of a national platform while allowing us to preserve the culture, service standards, and local identity that have driven our success."

The buyer

Visterra is a commercial landscaping platform headquartered in Rosemont, Illinois, and backed by Trinity Hunt Partners of Dallas, which holds it in its Fund VI. Its partner companies provide landscape maintenance, enhancement, construction and installation, sweeping and portering, and winter services, with incumbent partner leaders running day-to-day operations. Alan T. Handley is president and CEO.

Clover is Visterra's 14th partnership since inception and its second completed investment of 2026. Handley said Clover "represents exactly the type of partner we look to invest in," citing "seasoned operators with deep landscaping expertise" and a "demonstrated track-record of market leading growth." Visterra has since announced another: on July 22 it made a strategic investment in Qualitiscape Services, a Fort Worth company founded in 1983, its 15th partnership and third of the year.

Two Southeast hubs in six weeks

Clover came six weeks after Visterra's April 7 investment in Land Corps Landscaping, a commercial maintenance and enhancement company in the Nashville area founded in 2013. Land Corps was Visterra's first operation in Tennessee and took the platform to 15 states. Handley tied the two deals together: "Huntsville is one of the most exciting markets in the Southeast, and combined with our recent expansion into Nashville, the partnership positions Visterra to safely deliver best-in-class commercial landscape services as we set out to become the provider of choice across the region."

What this means for north Alabama landscaping owners

A national platform made a company founded in 2022 its Huntsville hub. What Clover had was two founders with decades each in the trade and a client base spread across office, multifamily, industrial, HOA and retail properties, which is the profile Handley described in his own words. For an owner whose business is young, a short track record did not keep Clover off a platform's list.
