Riverview Landscapes Acquires Giannini Landscaping in Its 23rd Deal

What happened

Riverview Landscapes has acquired Giannini Landscaping and Holiday Lighting by Giannini, a commercial landscaping, holiday lighting and snow management company headquartered in Lindenhurst, New York. The Lindenhurst location becomes Riverview's West Suffolk County branch within its New York region. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The seller

By the company's own account, Mitch Giannini started it in the spring of 1977 out of the Giannini family home, and it moved to 164 Ocean Avenue in Lindenhurst in 2001. It serves the South Shore of Suffolk County with property maintenance, landscape design, hardscapes and plantings, running a fleet of more than 40 trucks.

In the holiday season the company operates as Holiday Lighting by Giannini, which it describes as one of the top holiday lighting installers and wholesale distributors in New York. The division supplies, installs, maintains, takes down and stores residential displays, and runs a holiday lighting showroom next to the Lindenhurst office.

The business has changed hands before. In 2019 Michael Kaplan, its operations manager for more than 15 years, became the owner. "This partnership provides new resources and opportunities for our team while ensuring we continue delivering the high-quality service our customers expect," Kaplan said of the sale to Riverview. The branch will be led by Mike Laudando, who has spent more than 20 years at Giannini in account management and operations roles.

The buyer

Riverview was founded in 2022 and provides landscaping and snow services to thousands of customers across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, with more than 700 employees. It is owned by management and Talus Holdings. Besides its New York region, it runs Northern New Jersey, Southern New Jersey and New England regions.

"With Giannini's in-house holiday lighting expertise, Riverview will be able to expand this offering during the winter months," said Liam Burrell, Riverview's chief financial officer.

Riverview's pace on Long Island and across New York

Giannini is Riverview's second Long Island acquisition. In August 2025 it bought Richard Sperber Landscaping Associates, a commercial and residential landscaping and snow company that has served eastern Long Island since 1997, and made it its East Hampton branch. That was its 17th acquisition. Giannini, six deals later, was its 23rd.

The buying continued after Lindenhurst. By July 21, 2026, Riverview had announced four more acquisitions, among them Landscape, Inc., an Albany company that was combined with Riverview's existing Albany branch in June, and B&B Landscaping & Gardening in Cortlandt Manor, which joined its Greater Westchester County branch as the 27th. What this means for Long Island landscaping owners

Riverview now has branches at the eastern end of Suffolk County and on the western South Shore, so a Suffolk owner is dealing with a buyer already operating at both ends of the county. Riverview already sold snow work, and Giannini brings a second winter line on top of it: holiday lighting with its own showroom and wholesale trade, the capability Riverview's CFO named in announcing the deal. For an owner whose company has complementary winter services, that seasonal line is the part of the business to put in front of a buyer first.
