Outworx Sells Gold Landscape to Ares-Backed Landscape Workshop

What happened

Landscape Workshop, the Birmingham, Alabama, commercial landscape maintenance company, announced on August 25, 2026, that it had acquired Outworx Group's landscape maintenance businesses: Gold Landscape of Dallas, along with Aero Groundtek and Lawn Butler. Together the three take Landscape Workshop into the Dallas and Salt Lake City markets and add to its existing operations in Orlando, Florida.

Gold was not a founder's sale. The seller was Outworx Group, a commercial exterior services company whose work runs from snow and ice management to landscaping. "This transaction sharpens Outworx's focus and allows us to continue investing in our core national exterior facilities maintenance platform," said Derek Simon, the company's chief financial officer. Bradley Arant Boult Cummings was legal counsel to Landscape Workshop, and Warren Averett provided its diligence support. McDermott Will & Schulte was legal counsel to Outworx. The announcement did not include a price or other financial terms.

The seller

Gold Landscape was founded in 1989 and is based in Dallas. It serves homeowners associations, multifamily properties, and commercial properties across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, with landscape maintenance, installation, and irrigation installation and repair. Its specialty is large-scale community work: front-yard maintenance programs for sizable single-family communities managed by HOAs.

Outworx, then a Westbury, New York, facility maintenance company owned by funds managed by Mill Point Capital, acquired Gold in June 2021. Aaron Goldstein was Gold's founder and president at the time of that deal. The following year Gold was among the first winners of the Best Landscape and Lawn Care Companies to Work For awards, run by Lawn & Landscape with Best Companies Group.

Gold's employees have joined Landscape Workshop, as have the Aero Groundtek and Lawn Butler teams. Christopher Null, who was vice president of landscape services at Outworx, has joined Landscape Workshop as a regional vice president.

The buyer

Landscape Workshop has maintained commercial grounds since 1984, for office, industrial, retail, healthcare, multifamily, municipal, HOA, education, and hospitality properties. An Ares Private Equity fund bought a majority stake in May 2025 from Carousel Capital, which had been the company's partner for the previous five years. At that point Landscape Workshop had 38 locations across the Southeast. It now operates from more than 50 locations in 16 states, from Maryland and Virginia to Texas and Utah, and ranks No. 24 on Landscape Management's 2026 LM150.

Its previous four acquisition announcements were all in Florida, the most recent being Big Yellow Services in Tampa on August 18, a week before this one. "This partnership strengthens our presence in Orlando while establishing new operations in Dallas and Salt Lake City," said chief executive J.T. Price. He added that Landscape Workshop has "a longstanding partnership with Outworx's National Exterior division" and that "we look forward to continued collaboration with Outworx."

What this means for landscaping owners

Gold Landscape has changed owners twice since 2021, and this time it was not the deal in its own right. A Dallas business built over three decades on HOA front-yard programs went out in a three-company package because its corporate owner chose to concentrate on exterior facilities maintenance. An owner who sells to a diversified services company joins a portfolio whose shape can change later, and the 2026 sale followed directly from that kind of change.

For owners in Dallas-Fort Worth, the change is a national commercial platform with an Ares fund behind it, now running a local business with an HOA-heavy customer base.
