What happened

Visterra Landscape Group announced a strategic investment in Land Corps Landscaping on April 7, 2026. Land Corps provides commercial landscape maintenance and enhancement services across the greater Nashville region. The deal is Visterra's formal entry into Tennessee, which takes its footprint to 15 states. Visterra calls Land Corps its 13th strategic partnership since inception and its first completed investment of 2026. The announcement did not say what stake Visterra took, and financial terms were not disclosed.

The company

Jeff MacDonald founded Land Corps in 2013, and the announcement names him as its owner. The company maintains HOA and commercial properties across Middle Tennessee. Its work is concentrated in master planned communities and commercial properties, including retail shopping centers and business parks, and covers weekly lawn care, turf treatments, seasonal flower installations and plant installations. Land Corps works with property managers and HOA boards, and its proposals include a detailed service map of the area to be maintained.

MacDonald grew up in rural Northern California and spent years in customer service, management and operations at a large publicly traded insurance company. He says multiple property management companies have recognized Land Corps as their "most responsive vendor."

"Partnering with Visterra takes that to an entirely new level," MacDonald said in the announcement. "We are thrilled to be joining a team full of entrepreneurs as we continue to build the next chapters of Land Corps together in the years to come."

The buyer

Visterra is a commercial landscape platform backed by Trinity Hunt Partners, a Dallas private equity firm that holds it in its sixth fund. It is based in Rosemont, Illinois, and provides maintenance, enhancement, construction and installation, sweeping and portering, and winter services, with operations in the Midwest, Northeast, South and Southeast. Incumbent leaders of its partner companies guide their day-to-day operations. The deal Visterra announced before this one was a strategic investment in Liberty Lawn & Landscaping of New Braunfels, Texas, in January 2026.

Alan T. Handley, Visterra's president and CEO, said the company sees "a significant opportunity to build on that strong foundation, expand into new commercial end markets across the region, and create the premier landscaping platform in the state of Tennessee." Visterra's announcement also said Land Corps would help it "pursue additional strategic partnerships across the state in areas such as Knoxville, Memphis, and Chattanooga."

Where Visterra went next in the Southeast

Six weeks later, on May 19, 2026, Visterra announced a strategic investment in Clover Landscape Group of Huntsville, Alabama, founded in 2022 by Denny Langston and Ben Elliott. Visterra presented Clover as a complement to the Land Corps partnership and as a gateway across what it called "the Alabama-Tennessee corridor." Clover continues to serve greater Huntsville as Visterra's Clover Huntsville branch. What this means for landscaping owners

Visterra's first Tennessee partner is a company founded in 2013 whose work is HOA and commercial maintenance contracts won through property managers and boards, and the Huntsville hub that followed it is younger still. The platform's entry into a new state came through a business with 13 years behind it, not decades. For owners in Knoxville, Memphis, or Chattanooga, those three cities are named in Visterra's own announcement of this deal. And because Visterra frames these deals as partnerships and investments without saying what share changes hands, the first question to put to any platform using that language is how much of the company it would own after closing.
