Osprey Landscape Group and LandGraphics

What happened

Osprey Landscape Group, a commercial landscape services company backed by Southfield Capital, acquired LandGraphics, a commercial landscape maintenance company serving San Diego and Orange counties in California. The deal was announced on June 25, 2026, and closed in June. LandGraphics is Osprey's first acquisition in California. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The seller

LandGraphics has maintained commercial landscapes in San Diego and Orange counties since 1985. It is headquartered in San Diego, with branches in Vista, Chula Vista and Garden Grove. Its work is maintenance, enhancement, water management and arbor care for commercial and industrial sites, retail centers, apartment and retirement communities, hotels, healthcare campuses and schools. Its clients have included property managers at CBRE and UDR.

The business started as the first Southern California branch of the Shooter Company, which Flavio Velez opened. Neil Shooter sold that branch to Velez in 2003, and Velez renamed it LandGraphics. In February 2020 Velez took on Dave Ramsze, a former COO of an Arizona landscape company, as a partner to help fund and manage the company's growth. The current business was formed by combining LandGraphics with New Way Landscape & Tree Care Services under the LandGraphics name.

Anil Hiremath is the owner and CEO. In a statement released by Osprey, he says he has spent 21 years in the landscape industry, starting as CEO of what he calls the nation's then-largest ESOP. "As I neared the end of my career, it was important to me to place our team with a company that had a like-minded culture," he wrote. On the brand, he said: "Customers will continue to work with the same local teams they know and trust under the LandGraphics brand."

The buyer

Osprey is led by CEO Joshua Dake and is a portfolio company of Southfield Capital, a Greenwich, Connecticut, private equity firm that invests in lower-middle-market business services companies. Osprey's work spans commercial maintenance, enhancements, irrigation and arbor care. Before this deal it operated in Oregon, Washington and Texas, in the Portland, Seattle, Dallas–Fort Worth and Houston markets.

Osprey's own headquarters is in Carlsbad, in San Diego County. "This is a significant milestone for Osprey as we expand into California," Dake said.

How Osprey has built its states

Osprey's platform began with Pacific Landscape Management in Portland, Oregon, and added companies in the Seattle market before entering Texas with EarthWorks Inc., a company founded in 1979. When Osprey bought Palm Gardens in Dallas–Fort Worth in March 2026, the announcement described the deal as expanding the reach of EarthWorks, which it called Osprey's Texas platform business. The LandGraphics announcement uses the same word for California, saying the deal creates "a strong California platform." In Texas, the first company Osprey bought there kept its name and became the business the next deal was attached to. LandGraphics now holds that first position in California. What this means for Southern California landscaping owners

For commercial maintenance owners in San Diego and Orange counties, Osprey has changed from a buyer headquartered nearby to a competitor working their market under a name their customers already know. What Hiremath stressed publicly was continuity for customers and crews, and Osprey's announcement said it plans to keep operating the business under the LandGraphics brand. An owner in the region weighing a sale now has a nearby example of what one sponsor-backed platform said it would keep in place when it bought an established local company.
