Green Summit Buys 43-Year-Old LandMark Landscape in Second Acquisition

What happened

Green Summit Landscape Group, a platform formed by Los Angeles private equity firm Century Park Capital Partners, has acquired LandMark Landscape, a Lansing-area landscaping company in Michigan. Century Park announced the deal on April 21, 2026, as Green Summit's second acquisition, in a release that also announced the platform's official launch, anchored by R&D Landscape, another Lansing-area company and the platform's initial investment. Century Park had first announced Green Summit's formation in November 2025, along with a first acquisition it did not name. The April release gave no price or other terms for LandMark.

The seller

LandMark has been in business for 43 years and operates from Haslett, serving Lansing, East Lansing, Okemos, DeWitt, Laingsburg and Meridian Township. It offers maintenance, irrigation, design and snow management to residential and commercial customers, and it specializes in landscape design and renovation, on jobs from small projects to the largest estates.

The business began as Wells Lawn Care, a lawn maintenance and snow plowing company. Mark Engstrom joined Wells in 1983 and became a partial owner within a year. A decade later he bought the company outright, renamed it LandMark Landscape and expanded into landscape design and maintenance. Beth Dudash joined as a landscape designer in 1999 and became a part owner in 2006 and the company's vice president.

The announcement did not say whether LandMark's owners kept a stake or a role. LandMark operates under its own name as one of Green Summit's two companies, which Green Summit describes as "joined under the Green Summit umbrella, with their cultures, crews, and customer commitments fully intact."

The buyer

Century Park, founded in 2000, invests in family businesses, owner-operated firms and corporate divestitures. Green Summit is designed to build a full-service landscape, snow and water management organization in the United States, and Judy Guido, a Green Industry Hall of Famer, is the platform's chairwoman. Calfee, Halter & Griswold represented Century Park on the transactions.

R&D Landscape was founded in 2001, runs from an operating campus on the Bonnie View Golf Course in Eaton Rapids, and serves commercial companies and luxury residential clients. Its founders and leadership team retained meaningful ownership and continue to lead the business, with Clay Carstensen as CEO. R&D co-founder Russ Thorn commented on the LandMark deal: "Bringing LandMark into Green Summit is exciting because they're a local company that shares our values and commitment to customers, employees, and the community."

Nat Bacon, a principal at Century Park, said: "Our investment in these companies demonstrates our commitment to the Michigan and Midwest markets."

What this means for landscaping owners

Green Summit's second acquisition came from its anchor company's own market, so both of the platform's companies serve greater Lansing. The two took different seats: R&D, founded in 2001, became the platform, and LandMark, the older company at 43 years, joined as the add-on.
