Meadow Green Landscaping Acquired by DJ's Landscape Management

What happened

On July 1, 2026, MRE Capital announced that DJ's Landscape Management, one of its platform companies, had completed the acquisition of Meadow Green Landscaping, a landscape design, construction and maintenance company serving the Twin Cities region of Minnesota. The same release announced DJ's acquisition of Greenscape Inc., a four-season operator with more than 250 full-time team members in New England and the Mid-Atlantic. The acquisition had been reported before the release, in a LinkedIn post by Randall Katz saying RK Capital Partners originated the transaction for DJ's. The release did not disclose financial terms.

The seller

Dave Cripe started Meadow Green with his father in 1988, primarily to fund college, then took it over after graduating and focused on growing it. The company has nearly 40 full-time team members and serves commercial, municipal and residential customers. Its work runs from custom residential design-build, including natural stone patios, retaining walls, water features and outdoor fireplaces, to commercial property maintenance, irrigation, and snow and ice removal. Its senior staff is long-tenured: operations manager John Ransbottom joined in 1991 on a mowing crew, and landscape designer Lindsey Bittner has been with the company since 2004.

Cripe stays. Leadership and day-to-day operations continue under him, and he described the company as "a family-built business focused on creating landscapes that make a lasting impact." Joining DJ's, he said, "provides access to additional resources and expertise that will allow us to grow responsibly, invest in our team, and continue delivering exceptional results for our customers across the Twin Cities and beyond."

The buyer

DJ Vander Slik founded DJ's in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1992. It is a commercial grounds management company providing landscaping and snow and ice management, with locations in Michigan, Indiana, Minnesota, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Virginia. MRE Capital, the family office of David Williams, invested in DJ's in 2024. Greenscape and Meadow Green are DJ's fifth and sixth add-on transactions since then, and together take the company past 1,200 full-time team members. Katz's post described Meadow Green as the second transaction RK Capital Partners had originated for DJ's.

Williams said the two deals "meaningfully expand DJ's geographic reach while strengthening its position in core Midwest markets." Vander Slik called the two companies "outstanding businesses with deep local roots, loyal customers, and teams that share our commitment to quality, safety, and service."

DJ's other Twin Cities acquisitions

Meadow Green is one of three Minnesota landscaping companies DJ's has acquired. The other two are Precision Landscaping and Construction in Hastings and Clearscape Outdoor Services in New Brighton. With Meadow Green in Prior Lake, they are DJ's three Minnesota teams, serving commercial properties across Minneapolis and St. Paul. In a letter to customers of the three companies, Vander Slik wrote that "the name and logo will change" and that "your local contacts will remain the same." What this means for Twin Cities landscaping owners

DJ's Minnesota business is three local companies slated to share the DJ's name, and Meadow Green shows what that means for a seller: the founder keeps running it, and the name he built it under is set to give way to DJ's. The deal also puts a residential design-build practice inside a company that states it does not offer residential services beyond condominiums, apartments and HOAs. The brand is a term to settle before signing an LOI rather than after, since DJ's has announced the same change for all three companies it bought there.
