Osprey Landscape Group, a commercial landscape services platform and a portfolio company of Southfield Capital, announced on March 30, 2026 that it had acquired Palm Gardens, a landscape company based in the Dallas–Fort Worth market. Osprey described Palm Gardens as an addition to its Texas business, which is anchored by EarthWorks Inc. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Palm Gardens is based in Dallas, and its owner at the time of the deal was Pat Cook. The announcement describes its work as landscape maintenance, irrigation and enhancement for commercial properties, homeowners' associations and institutional clients across North Texas. On the commercial side, its full-service maintenance contracts have covered office buildings, restaurants and large retail projects, with licensed irrigation installation and service.
The company has also run a residential business: landscape design and installation, stone patios and outdoor living spaces, and year-round home maintenance billed at a monthly rate. It has billed itself as DFW's expert in cold-hardy palms and boulder work, and it has sold on access to the owner, promising clients direct communication with company ownership and executive-level quality inspection.
"Osprey's commitment to its people, customers, and long-term growth aligns closely with the values we've built our business on," Cook said in the announcement. He said the deal would let Palm Gardens "benefit from the resources and support of a larger organization and give our people new opportunities to grow."
Osprey is a commercial landscape platform focused on maintenance, enhancements and irrigation, led by CEO Joshua Dake. It began with the acquisition of Pacific Landscape Management in Portland, Oregon, and moved into the Seattle market through His Hands and Earthworks Landscape in Washington state. When the Palm Gardens deal was announced, Osprey operated in Oregon, Washington and Texas.
Southfield Capital is a Greenwich, Connecticut private equity firm that invests in lower-middle-market business services companies.
"This partnership represents an important step in expanding our presence in Texas," Dake said. "Palm Gardens has a strong legacy of quality and customer service along with a talented team and loyal client base."
Osprey entered Texas in July 2025 with EarthWorks Inc., founded in 1979 by Mark and Mana Chaffin and run by their sons, Chris Lee as CEO and Zac Chaffin as CFO, when Osprey acquired it. EarthWorks serves Dallas–Fort Worth and Houston with maintenance, irrigation, enhancement, tree care and floriculture. Finn Dixon & Herling provided legal counsel and Monroe Capital provided financing to Osprey and Southfield on that deal, which Dake said "establishes our presence in Texas."
Palm Gardens followed eight months later. In June 2026 Osprey closed on LandGraphics, its first California acquisition, which serves San Diego and Orange County; that release said Osprey plans to keep operating under the LandGraphics brand. The Palm Gardens release says nothing about the Palm Gardens name. Owners weighing an approach from a platform like this can read our guide on selling a landscaping business to private equity.
Osprey's second Texas deal did not look like its first. EarthWorks was a second-generation family company covering two metro areas; Palm Gardens was an owner-run company in one of them, with a residential design and palm business alongside its commercial and HOA maintenance. A platform with a Texas anchor already in place bought it as an addition to that anchor, not as a new market. For a Dallas–Fort Worth owner, that means a sale to Osprey now is a sale into an EarthWorks-led business, and the one brand commitment Osprey has put in writing in its recent releases came with a market entry rather than an addition like this one.
