APHIX Buys Piedmont Landscape Management, Its First Georgia Branch

What happened

APHIX, a commercial landscaping company backed by Gauge Capital, has acquired Piedmont Landscape Management of Augusta, Georgia. The acquisition, reported in September 2026, gives APHIX its first branch in Georgia. Piedmont now operates as APHIX's Augusta office, from the same Wilkinson Road address and with its contact information unchanged. Neither APHIX's notice nor the trade coverage gave a price or other terms.

The seller

Piedmont has served businesses in the Central Savannah River Area and northeast Georgia since 1977. Its work covers landscape design and construction, commercial maintenance, irrigation construction and maintenance, and seasonal color. The customer base runs through property managers: shopping centers, medical facilities, schools, apartment communities, and HOAs, with estates on the residential side. Every customer is assigned a dedicated relationship manager, and the company is an associate member of the Apartment Association of Greater Augusta.

Patrick Wells, Piedmont's owner and president, is a certified landscape architect. He helped with his father's landscaping business, worked at a local nursery, and ran his own business while earning a landscape architecture degree from the University of Georgia. Wells and the Piedmont team keep their day-to-day leadership roles under APHIX.

"We want our customers to know that while our name may be changing, the people, relationships and commitment to service you have trusted are not," Wells said.

The buyer

APHIX is a faith-based commercial landscaping company led by CEO Allen Sweeney. Gauge Capital, a private equity firm based in Southlake, Texas, acquired APHIX in 2025, when its locations were in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama. Its offices run from Louisville and Lexington through Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Nashville to Huntsville and Birmingham, with two in the Raleigh area and now Augusta. Its work spans grounds maintenance, enhancement and construction, and snow and ice removal, for commercial properties, community associations, national accounts, logistics facilities, and equine farms.

"From our initial conversations, it was clear that Patrick and the team at Piedmont Landscape Management embodied everything we value at Aphix," Sweeney said.

How APHIX has folded in its Raleigh and Augusta acquisitions

Piedmont follows two Raleigh-area companies APHIX has acquired: North Carolina Turf Care and Triangle Landscape Group. Both were announced with the wording now used for Piedmont, that the company "is now under the ownership of APHIX" and that its contact information would stay the same. Each became an APHIX office named for its market: North Raleigh in Youngsville and Greater Raleigh in Garner. What this means for commercial landscaping owners

Since Gauge's investment, APHIX has entered North Carolina and Georgia through companies it bought and set up as APHIX offices. In all three notices, the seller's contact information stayed the same while its office took an APHIX market name. For commercial landscaping owners in Augusta and the rest of the Central Savannah River Area, that means a long-standing local competitor now answers to a Gauge-backed platform, still reachable at the same number and still run day to day by the owner customers already knew.
