What happened

Turf Masters Brands has acquired Quality First Lawn & Shrub Care, an Orlando, Florida, lawn care company that serves residential and commercial customers. The deal closed on July 10, 2026, and Turf Masters announced it on September 15. The announcement did not give a price or other terms.

The seller

Jeffrey and Debra Melmer led Quality First as its president and vice president. The Melmers say that in 1994, after seven years working for large spray companies in Orlando, they felt customers deserved better, because those companies had lost personal contact with their customers and lacked well-educated, experienced technicians. They describe Quality First as a family-operated business. The company works across Orlando and Central Florida in three lines: lawn and shrub care; pest control, including rodent, mosquito and termite treatments; and irrigation inspection and repair under the Quality First Precision Water Works name. It has been BBB accredited since 2004.

Turf Masters identifies Jeffrey Melmer as the former owner. "I am looking forward to an incredible experience not only for our team members but also for our customers, continuing to provide the highest level of service in our area as we have for the past 28 years," he said in the announcement.

The buyer

Turf Masters Brands is a Roswell, Georgia-based platform that acquires and grows lawn care, pest control and related outdoor service companies. Wind Point Partners acquired Turf Masters and combined it with ExperiGreen Lawn Care, a lawn care company Wind Point already owned. At that point the combined company reported more than 1,800 team members and nearly 400,000 residential customers across 16 states and two Canadian provinces, with its largest presence in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. ExperiGreen's chief executive, Luis Orbegoso, took over as chief executive of the combined company, and the announcement of the combination said Turf Masters would keep "the local brands customers know and trust."

In Florida, Turf Masters already ran a location in Melbourne, and in February 2026 it acquired Toucan Lawn Care, based in Ormond Beach and serving the Daytona Beach area. Orbegoso said the Quality First deal "allows us to better serve the Orlando area and surrounding markets."

What this means for lawn care owners

A family-operated Orlando company is now one local brand inside the platform Wind Point assembled. Wind Point's announcement of that combination described Turf Masters' own work as fertilization, weed control, aeration, seeding, tree and shrub care and exterior pest services; Quality First's lines run further, into termite treatment and irrigation repair. The September announcement calls Quality First "a fantastic brand" without saying whether the name continues, which is worth raising early with any buyer that says it keeps local brands. For a Central Florida lawn care owner, the practical point is that a sponsor-backed buyer has closed two Florida deals since February.
