Summit Fire & Security LLC acquired A-V Corp and Amarillo Media Systems, two businesses based in Amarillo, Texas. The deal took effect October 21, 2026, and Summit announced it on October 29. It was structured as a purchase of substantially all of the assets of Audio-Video Corporation, the corporate name behind A-V Corp.
Customers will continue to be served out of the current Amarillo location. The combination adds fire sprinklers, fire extinguishers, and special hazard fire suppression systems to what those customers can buy there. The announcement did not include a price or other financial terms.
A-V Corp was founded in Amarillo in 1946 and grew into a regional provider of fire alarm, security, and communications systems across the Texas Panhandle. Its work covers fire alarms, video surveillance, access control, monitoring, and integrated communications such as nurse call, intercom and paging, and school bell systems.
Richard and Melissa Jones joined the company in 1993 and became its owners in 2016. Under their leadership, A-V Corp and Amarillo Media Systems served commercial, educational, and healthcare customers throughout the region.
Amarillo Media Systems designs and installs sound systems, video projection, and stage lighting, and maintains and repairs that equipment. It has worked across Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle for almost 50 years, for churches, schools, businesses, and government agencies, including courtrooms.
"As A-V Corp and Amarillo Media Systems transition to Summit Fire & Security, our customers will continue working with the same trusted team they have come to know," Richard Jones said.
Summit Fire & Security is a subsidiary of SFP Holding, Inc., which does business as Summit Companies. Summit Companies is headquartered in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, and provides fire and life safety design, installation, inspection, maintenance, monitoring, and consulting through operating subsidiaries in 37 states. Summit is backed by BDT & MSD Partners, which agreed in August 2025 to acquire a majority stake in the company from BlackRock Long Term Private Capital.
Less than two months before the A-V Corp deal, effective September 1, 2026, Summit Fire & Security bought substantially all of the assets of Casteel Automatic Fire Protection. Casteel is a fire sprinkler contractor founded in 1979 with locations in Houston, Amarillo, Austin, and Lubbock.
Jeremiah Hazzard, senior vice president of Summit Fire & Security, described what the A-V Corp deal completes. "With this addition, Amarillo is now a one-stop-shop for all your sprinkler, fire alarm, security, fire extinguisher, and pre-engineered system needs, along with providing commercial AV," he said.
For owners whose business is the alarm, security, and low-voltage side of the trade, this deal puts a different kind of buyer in view: a platform that has just bought the sprinkler side in the same city. Here the alarm contractor was not an entry into a new market but the piece that rounded out an existing one, and the AV work came with it. For an owner in the region, a sprinkler competitor's sale to a platform is news about their own set of buyers, not only about the competitor.
