Action Air Systems and Air Comfort Systems

What happened

Action Air Systems, a commercial HVAC contractor based in Manchester, Connecticut, has acquired Air Comfort Systems, Inc., a commercial HVAC service provider headquartered in Wallingford, Connecticut. Action Air announced the tuck-in acquisition on May 5, 2026. Under the deal, Action Air will onboard Air Comfort's service technicians and assume its preventative maintenance contracts and customer relationships. Founder and owner John Hauser will remain involved for a transition period to support the integration; the length of that period was not specified. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The seller

Hauser founded Air Comfort in 1995. It is a service-focused commercial HVAC provider whose work centers on preventative maintenance, repair and replacement, for commercial and industrial customers throughout southern Connecticut. Its customer base is long-standing and built on recurring maintenance relationships.

Vinny Savino, Action Air's president, said Air Comfort "has developed strong relationships across the Wallingford and New Haven markets." Hauser said the partnership with Action Air and NexCore "provides a strong foundation for the next chapter of Air Comfort."

The buyer

Action Air started in 1987 as a sheet metal contractor with eight employees. Its founder, Wayne Beaulieu, partnered with Savino, and in 1990 the two turned it into a full-service mechanical contractor. Today it employs more than 50 people and works out of a 20,000-square-foot Manchester facility with its own sheet metal shop. It handles HVAC/R installation and service, plumbing and piping, and design/build work for commercial and industrial customers in Connecticut, Western Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

NexCore, the commercial HVAC platform backed by Dallas private equity firm Trinity Hunt Partners, acquired Action Air in August 2025. Action Air and Massachusetts-based Accutemp Engineering were the platform's ninth and tenth acquisitions. NexCore describes its focus as maintenance-driven HVAC, electrical, controls and plumbing service for commercial clients. Steve Knowles, NexCore's CEO, called Air Comfort "a highly attractive, maintenance-driven HVAC services business" with "deep customer relationships."

How NexCore's partner companies are structuring add-ons

Air Comfort sits between two other add-ons NexCore partner companies announced this year, and the three were not set up the same way. In March, Sylvester & Cockrum bought Mechanical Systems Technology, a 2003-founded commercial HVAC and refrigeration firm in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with more than 60 preventative maintenance agreements. That release told customers they would keep "the same trusted technicians and service teams they rely on today." In June, Alliance Group acquired Nolin Control Systems of Georgia, Vermont, and founder Matt Nolin stays on to lead day-to-day operations under Alliance's ownership. What this means for commercial HVAC owners

Between March and June, one Trinity Hunt-backed platform kept one founder running his business and gave another a transition role while his customers and technicians moved into an existing partner company. NexCore's CEO described it as maintenance-driven, and its contracts are what Action Air assumed. Which of those arrangements a buyer is offering is worth settling in the first conversation, before price.
