Sila Services and Bonsky Heating & Cooling

What happened

Sila Services, LLC acquired Bonsky Heating & Cooling, a heating and cooling contractor in Uniontown, Ohio, as part of its purchase of NEOH, a group of Ohio home services companies. Sila announced the deal on January 13, 2026. Bonsky was one of five companies in the group, alongside Simpson Heating & Air, Best Heating & Air Solutions, Ultra Clean Duct Cleaning and Coblentz Plumbing Solutions. Trade Masters Academy was also part of the deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The seller

Bonsky has served Northeast Ohio since 1927. From Uniontown it covers Stark County and nearby communities, including Akron, Canton, North Canton, Massillon and Hartville. It installs and services all types of heating and air conditioning, including geothermal and boiler systems, and runs its own fully equipped sheet metal shop. It offers 24-hour emergency service, is a Lennox Premier Dealer, and holds a State of Ohio HVAC, hydronics and plumbing license.

Before the sale, Bonsky was part of the NEOH group, which HVAC veterans Chad Simpson and Steve VanHorn founded and led. According to Sila, the two grew the group with a focus on team and customer service for more than 15 years. Simpson, who founded Simpson Heating & Air, said joining Sila "allows us to take what we've built and expand it, adding resources, training, and new services while staying true to the values that define our companies." The announcement did not say whether the Bonsky name continues or what roles Simpson and VanHorn will hold at Sila.

The buyer

Sila Services is a home services platform based in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, and led by CEO Jason Rabbino. It operates more than 40 brands across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest, offering HVAC, plumbing, electrical, water treatment, indoor air quality and home performance services to residential and commercial customers. Sila is a portfolio company of Private Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, which agreed in November 2024 to buy a majority stake in the company from affiliates of Morgan Stanley Capital Partners. Morgan Stanley had first invested in 2021, and Sila's management kept a significant minority stake.

Rabbino said Simpson, VanHorn and their team "have built something special in Ohio by growing thoughtfully, putting people first in all their decisions, and expanding their range of services to benefit customers." He added: "This partnership will allow us to accelerate growth, invest in training, and create even more opportunities for trades professionals across the region."

Sila's earlier Ohio deals

NEOH is not Sila's first acquisition in the region. In September 2023 it bought Cleveland Air Comfort, which it announced together with an Illinois deal. In February 2024 it bought Ainsley Heating & Cooling, a Cortland company founded in 1976 that serves homeowners in Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. Sila operated 26 brands across 33 locations when it announced Ainsley. Owners weighing a sale of their own can read our guide on selling an HVAC business to private equity.

What this means for Northeast Ohio HVAC owners

Sila's earlier Ohio deals added one company at a time; this one added five and a training academy at once. Bonsky did not reach Sila as a standalone sale but as one brand inside a group two local operators had put together, and the group was the thing bought. For HVAC owners around Canton and Akron, a competitor with nearly a century in their market is now connected to a Goldman Sachs-backed owner. Rabbino tied the deal to investing in training, and NEOH came with its own academy: an owner who has built a real training program has built the part of the business this buyer's CEO chose to talk about.
