The Chill Brothers, a residential and commercial HVAC and home services company, announced on October 23, 2026, that it had acquired Bowles Heating and Cooling of San Angelo, Texas. The Chill Brothers called Bowles its 10th acquisition. Bowles keeps its name, and Nathan Bowles, son of founder Guy Bowles, continues as general manager. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Guy Bowles founded Bowles Heating and Cooling in 1980. The company provides residential and light commercial HVAC service across San Angelo and the Concho Valley, including Ballinger, Christoval, Carlsbad, and Grape Creek. Its work runs from repair and replacement to ductless systems, indoor air quality, and duct cleaning and sealing, and it sells maintenance agreements with spring and fall tune-ups. Bowles serves more than 14,000 customers and has an established base of recurring maintenance customers. It is a Trane Comfort Specialist that has won Trane's Top Gun Dealer Award four years running, and a Mitsubishi Diamond Elite Contractor.
Nathan Bowles has spent 18 years with the company his father founded and became its second-generation owner in 2021. "When your family's name is on the business, choosing who comes next is about much more than a transaction," he said in the announcement. "I wanted a partner that respected our employees, our customers, our name and the way we have built this company."
The Chill Brothers was founded in 2020 and is headquartered in Spring, Texas. It is majority-owned by Forum Asset Management and operates across Texas, North Carolina, and Arizona. Its six Texas branches serve Houston, Dallas, Austin, and the surrounding areas. The company is a Lennox Premier Dealer and a 2025 Lennox Circle of Excellence Award recipient. Brennan Mulcahy is chief executive, and Neil Bhapkar is chief marketing officer and head of corporate development.
Bowles follows Tucker Hill Air, Plumbing & Electrical, a greater Phoenix company that The Chill Brothers announced in February 2026 as its ninth acquisition and its entry into Arizona. The Chill Brothers' earlier Texas deals include Webb Air Heating & Cooling, a Fort Worth company founded in 1941, in June 2025.
"Bowles represents exactly what we look for in a partner: a strong local brand, an exceptional reputation, and a leadership team committed to continued growth," Bhapkar said.
For an owner whose business carries the family's name, this deal shows that selling to a platform and taking the name off the business are separate decisions. Bowles made the first without the second, and a member of the family still runs it. Owners weighing a buyer like this can read our guide on selling an HVAC business to private equity.
