Airo Mechanical, a Mooresville, North Carolina-based installer of HVAC and plumbing systems, announced on August 11, 2026 that it had acquired Legrande’s Enterprises, a specialty plumbing and HVAC contractor based in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It is Airo’s first acquisition in partnership with CCMP Growth, and it gives Airo its first location in the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 2009, Legrande’s provides plumbing and HVAC services to multifamily and commercial properties across the Myrtle Beach metro. Chad Boyd is its president.
The company will gradually adopt Airo’s branding, and its employees will keep serving the customers they have served for more than 17 years. Boyd said he is confident Airo is “the right partner to help us continue to deliver high-quality customer service,” and that his team is looking forward to “utilizing Airo’s advanced technologies and proven workflow processes to elevate our customers’ experience and provide our colleagues with professional development opportunities.”
Airo installs HVAC and plumbing for multifamily and light commercial property developers and general contractors in the Southeast. It began in Huntersville, North Carolina, as an HVAC company focused on multifamily projects, and added plumbing in 2019 to become a dual-trade contractor. Its work now runs from new construction to retrofits and replacements, with student housing and long-term care facilities alongside apartments.
CCMP Growth Advisors acquired Airo in August 2025 from an investor group led by Thomas Investments and Stephens Capital Partners. Chief executive Matt Baude and chief financial officer Angelia Ryan kept leading the company and remained significant shareholders, and Thomas Investments, which first invested in 2020, reinvested alongside CCMP. CCMP’s published plan for Airo includes accelerating “geographic expansion into other high-growth MSAs across the Southeast through organic investment and strategic M&A.”
Baude called the Legrande’s deal “a critical milestone in our growth trajectory, as it will establish our presence in the high-growth Myrtle Beach metropolitan area and deepen our plumbing expertise and capabilities.” He also credited Legrande’s with “a loyal customer base and proven track record of going the extra mile to get the job done on time and on budget.”
Airo was already working in South Carolina before this deal. Its South Carolina service areas run from Charleston and Hilton Head Island on the coast to Columbia, Greenville, Spartanburg, Rock Hill, Aiken, Florence, Sumter and Orangeburg, and CCMP identified North and South Carolina as Airo’s core multifamily markets when it invested. Myrtle Beach, between its Charleston and Wilmington markets, was the stretch of coast missing from that map, and the Legrande’s acquisition is what fills it.
The branding decision has a precedent inside the same sponsor. When CCMP Growth’s Decks & Docks platform acquired The Deck Supply in Missouri, Kansas and Iowa, the release said the business would operate under the Decks & Docks banner, much as Legrande’s is now moving to Airo’s. For owners weighing a sale to a sponsor-backed platform, our guide to selling an HVAC business to private equity is the place to start.
A year into CCMP’s ownership, Airo’s first deal with its new sponsor added no new state: it bought a two-trade shop inside a state Airo already worked, doing the same multifamily and commercial work Airo does. The move to Airo’s branding was announced with the deal itself, so an owner whose company name carries weight with local general contractors should put the question of the name on the table in the first conversation with a buyer like this one.
