Port Jersey Logistics Network and Fond du Lac

What happened

Port Jersey Logistics Network (PJLN) announced on October 22, 2026, that it has acquired Fond du Lac (FDL). FDL is an Edison, New Jersey-based provider of temperature-controlled and customs-bonded warehousing, plus final-mile transportation for wine, spirits, and specialty food customers. PJLN is a portfolio company of Maxwell Street Capital Partners. Evan Harwood, Maxwell Street's managing partner and PJLN's board chair, called the deal "PJLN's first acquisition under our partnership." Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP and Scopelitis, Garvin, Light, Hanson & Feary, PC provided legal counsel to Maxwell Street and PJLN. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The seller

FDL operates seven multi-client warehouses totaling approximately 500,000 square feet in Edison. All of them sit within about 25 miles of the Port of New York and New Jersey, which PJLN describes as a critical location for U.S. wine imports and for final-mile delivery into the New York City metro area. Alongside refrigerated and bonded storage, the company runs cross-dock operations and temperature-controlled delivery, and its specialty is wine, cheese, and chocolate.

Ted Chan founded the company. Incline Equity Partners acquired the business in 2017, when it operated as Fond du Lac Cold Storage and served New Jersey, New York, and Illinois.

Ian Torley, FDL's vice president of sales and engagement, said: "Our customers trust us with high-value, sensitive inventory, and as part of PJLN we can pair that service standard with a broader network, deeper commercial reach, and the systems and resources to serve them better."

The buyer

PJLN is headquartered in Cranbury, New Jersey, and dates to 1954. It operates more than 1.2 million square feet of food-grade warehouse space in New Jersey, Savannah, and Houston. It also offers truckload, LTL, drayage, intermodal, and dedicated fleet services. The products it handles include consumer-packaged goods, specialty foods, food ingredients, health and personal care products, and alcoholic beverages.

Maxwell Street is an Evanston, Illinois, private equity firm focused on transportation, logistics, supply chain, and route-based services businesses. It dates its investment in Port Jersey Logistics to March 2025 and announced it on April 2, 2025, saying the partnership would provide "additional capital for add-on acquisitions." Jeff Ramella was promoted from president to CEO with that announcement.

Ramella said FDL "has built long-tenured customer relationships in one of the most demanding corners of logistics," adding: "Their capabilities are highly complementary to ours, their footprint sits at the doorstep of our New Jersey operations, and together we can offer customers a fully integrated warehousing and delivery solution." FDL's existing customers gain access to PJLN's Houston and Savannah footprint.

What this means for warehousing and final-mile delivery owners

For owners of a specialty operation, the larger competitor down the road can be the buyer, not only the rival. Overlap in state and product category with PJLN did not stand in the way: FDL's bonded, temperature-controlled niche built around high-value wine and spirits inventory is what PJLN's chief executive called complementary. An owner thinking about selling a logistics company can count the nearby operators already handling their customers' products as part of the buyer set, rather than only as competition.
