Liberty Service Partners Acquires DB’s Plumbing and Drain in Northern Virginia

What happened

Liberty Service Partners, a residential home services company based in Addison, Texas, and backed by NorthCurrent Partners, announced on June 4, 2026, that it had acquired DB’s Plumbing and Drain, a family-owned plumber based in Woodbridge, Virginia. Liberty's announcement calls the deal a partnership, and it also refers to the sale of the business by its owners, David and Jennifer Buky. Liberty's announcement did not include a price or other financial terms.

The seller

The Bukys founded DB’s in 2008. It began as a small drain cleaning company and grew into a full-service plumbing contractor for homes and businesses across Woodbridge, Prince William County, Fairfax and Stafford counties, and the wider Washington, D.C. area. It specializes in residential plumbing, from drain and sewer cleaning and water heater repair and installation to leak detection and repiping, and sells an Octo Guard membership plan. The company markets itself as "Call the Octo," with an octopus mascot.

The business has served more than 17,000 homeowners and has more than 2,000 five-star Google reviews, with a 4.9-star rating overall. According to the announcement, David and Jennifer Buky and their team will keep serving homeowners in Woodbridge, Prince William County and the surrounding Northern Virginia and D.C. region. "We are incredibly proud of the relationships we have built and the service we have provided to homeowners and businesses throughout Northern Virginia over the past 18 years," the Bukys said.

The buyer

Liberty grew out of NorthCurrent Partners' flagship investment in late 2020. NorthCurrent is a New York-based private equity firm that makes majority-control investments, and it describes itself as the extension of a family office that grew a family business and sold it to private equity. Liberty is the parent company of local HVAC, electrical, plumbing and backup power brands in markets that include Knoxville, Tennessee's Tri-Cities, several Florida metros, Houston and Rhode Island.

The deal Liberty announced just before DB’s was Arctic Breeze Air Conditioning & Heating, a second-generation HVAC company in Northeast Florida, in April. "Plumbing is a big part of where we're taking Liberty, and DB's is a fantastic addition," CEO Jason Hiller said. Nick Rossino, Liberty's head of M&A, said that what drew the company to DB’s "was the family behind it — a business they built together and raised right alongside their kids for the better part of two decades."

Liberty's second Northern Virginia deal in six weeks

Liberty called its April 21, 2026, deal for HVAC & Plumbing Unlimited its entry into the Mid-Atlantic. That company was founded in 2006, is based in Lorton, and offers heating, cooling and plumbing. Its service area runs from Arlington and Fairfax to Manassas and Woodbridge. Clew Partners originated that transaction and was the buy-side advisor to NorthCurrent and Liberty. DB’s was announced six weeks later, so Liberty now owns two companies that both serve Woodbridge. DB’s is also a plumbing-only business, while each of the three companies Liberty announced before it, going back to December 2025, offers heating and cooling. What this means for Northern Virginia plumbing owners

Liberty is now a buyer with its own companies in the market that has shown it will buy a plumber with no HVAC line. It is also a buyer that would place any new company beside two it already owns there. That makes territory a live question in any conversation with Liberty: an owner should ask early how it divides service areas and customers between companies it runs in the same market.
