Tecta America announced on September 28, 2026, that it has acquired Babilla Roofing, a commercial roofing company headquartered in Gary, Indiana. The deal is Tecta's third acquisition of 2026, after Roofing Standards of Placentia, California, in March and Big Horn Roofing of Laramie, Wyoming, in May. The announcement did not include a price or other financial terms.
Babilla Roofing is led by its president, Chuck Babilla. Its commercial work spans re-roofing, new construction, and ongoing service and maintenance, and the company also takes on industrial, institutional, and residential roofing and architectural sheet metal. It works across Northwest Indiana and the Chicago area. Every Babilla employee holds an OSHA 10-hour card (the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration's basic construction safety course) and a first aid card, and the company runs as a drug-free workplace.
Chuck Babilla will continue to lead the company as president alongside the existing leadership team, and all employees remain in place. The business now operates as Babilla Roofing, a Tecta America Company, LLC. "For 40 years our people have been the reason customers trust us, and Tecta understood that from the very first time we spoke," Babilla said. "Our name stays on the door, our team stays in place, and now we have the backing to grow more than we ever could on our own."
Tecta, headquartered in Rosemont, Illinois, is the largest commercial roofing contractor in the United States, with more than 110 locations. Altas Partners acquired it in November 2018, when Tecta had more than 60 locations and more than 3,000 roofing professionals.
Babilla is the first acquisition Tecta has announced since Kevin Palmer became chief executive on June 22, succeeding Dave Reginelli, who moved to an executive advisor role. Palmer joined Tecta more than 20 years ago and ran Schwickert's, a Tecta company, for eight years before becoming Tecta's president. "For four decades, Chuck Babilla and his team have built a company grounded in safety, strong people, and uncompromising quality," he said. "We're proud to stand behind the Babilla name, and even more excited for what this team will build next."
Tecta's release describes its approach this way: it "does not rebrand its companies or replace their leadership; instead, it invests in their people, provides operational and financial support, and allows local teams to continue running their businesses."
Babilla is not Tecta's first company in either state it works in. Tecta's own acquisition record includes two Chicago roofers, Anthony Roofing and Illinois Roofing, both added in 2005, and Fort Wayne Roofing in Indiana, added in 2018. Its other two deals this year went much farther afield: Big Horn took Tecta into Wyoming, where Reginelli said the company had "been looking to establish a presence in Wyoming for many years." Babilla's territory instead includes Chicago, the metro where Tecta has its headquarters. For a company that carries its president's surname, the name and the leadership were settled in the announcement itself, not left open for after closing. Tecta says it handles every acquisition that way, and the June change of chief executive left the model in place: Palmer's first announced deal follows it point for point. For commercial roofers nearby, the competitor now backed by Tecta is one their customers already know as Babilla.
