Skybound Acquires Pennsylvania Roofer David M. Maines & Associates

What happened

Skybound Service Partners, a commercial roofing platform backed by Garnett Station Partners, acquired David M. Maines & Associates, a commercial roofing contractor based in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. Skybound announced the deal on July 15, 2026, as one of three recent acquisitions. The announcement did not include a purchase price.

The seller

David Maines founded the company in 1989 with his sons, Matthew and Charles, and built it into a full-service commercial roofing contractor with more than three decades in the trade. It works for schools, government agencies and large businesses, and it counts school district roofing among its references. The work covers roof replacement, restoration, repair and maintenance on systems from Tremco, Carlisle, Elevate and Garland, plus commercial siding, masonry restoration and waterproofing.

Thirty years after the Pennsylvania office opened, the company expanded with a second branch, Maines Roofing & Building Envelope Solutions, which serves Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia. Between the two branches, it reaches most of the Mid-Atlantic, from Virginia to New York. Skybound says all five of its partner companies, David M. Maines & Associates among them, have kept their brand names and local leadership teams.

The buyer

Garnett Station Partners, a principal investment firm founded in 2013 that manages about $4.5 billion of assets, launched Skybound in June 2025 with founder Jack Miner. Joe Dougherty was named chief executive in September 2025. The platform's first two partners, Roof Technology Partners of Woodstock, Georgia, and Quality Trusted Commercial in Minnesota, joined in the summer of 2025. Over the same year, Skybound opened four greenfield branches of its own, and it now operates in nine U.S. markets.

Skybound gives its partners access to institutional resources and a technology stack that includes AI tools, drone roof inspections, construction management and estimating software, and predictive analytics. "At Skybound, we are building the premier commercial roofing platform by partnering with exceptional regional operators," Dougherty said. Miner said the announcement "demonstrates Skybound's ability to scale through a combination of organic and acquisition-driven growth."

Three founder-era roofers in one announcement

The two contractors announced alongside Maines have a similar history. Unicoat Industrial Roofing was founded in 2000 in Bradenton, Florida, and operates across Florida and the Southeast. Technique Roofing Systems was founded in 1992 in Helena, Ohio, and works across Ohio and the Midwest. All three are regional commercial contractors founded between 1989 and 2000, and Skybound announced all three in a single release. What this means for Pennsylvania roofing owners

Of Skybound's five partners and four greenfield branches, Maines is the only one based in the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast. In Houston, Dallas, Birmingham, and Chicago, the platform opened branches of its own; in this region, its base is a contractor that arrived with a school and government customer base and a Maryland branch already open. That means a competitor bidding the same school district and public-agency roofs now has a sponsor-backed platform and its drone-inspection and estimating tools behind it, under a name its customers already know.
