TrussPoint Roofing & Exterior Renovations has acquired Runyon & Sons Roofing, a Mentor, Ohio, roofing contractor that serves homeowners and multifamily and commercial customers across Northeast Ohio. TrussPoint, which is backed by Soundcore Capital Partners, announced the deal on May 12, 2026. Runyon & Sons is the fourth brand in TrussPoint's portfolio. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Clyde Runyon Sr. started the business in 1962 as C & R Roofing, with one employee and one truck. By the late 1960s he was running a six-person crew that included three of his sons, and the company took the Runyon & Sons name in July 1973. His sons Clyde Jr. and Tom later took over the business. At the time of the May announcement, the company's president was Todd Runyon, Clyde Jr.'s youngest son and the founder's grandson.
Most of the work is residential: shingle, flat and metal roofs, repairs, gutters, siding and insulation. The company also offers condominium roofing and does low-slope commercial work, which Tom Runyon manages. It serves Lake, Geauga, Cuyahoga, Ashtabula and Summit counties, trains its craftsmen in house, and holds GAF's Master Elite contractor designation. It received the Better Business Bureau's Torch Award for Businesses of Integrity in 2003.
Todd Runyon addressed the brand directly in the announcement. "Partnering with TrussPoint allows us to maintain our local identity and values while gaining access to additional resources, expertise, and support to better serve our customers and our team," he said.
Soundcore formed TrussPoint in June 2025 with a majority investment in Ridge Top Exteriors, a Madison, Wisconsin, exterior remodeler with seven locations across Wisconsin, Illinois and Florida, and named Chad Colony chief executive. The platform added a Greater Boston roofer, Mario's Roofing, in August 2025 and Eaton Roofing & Exteriors, which operates in five Kansas cities, in January 2026. TrussPoint describes its focus as "high-growth, retail-centered, vendor-managed repair and maintenance roofing and exterior services companies."
Soundcore is a New York private-equity firm founded by Jarrett Turner in 2015. It makes buy-and-build investments in the lower middle market across the United States and Canada, and reports more than 114 acquisitions across 14 platforms.
"Todd and his team have created a strong business with a customer-first culture that aligns perfectly with TrussPoint's mission," Colony said of the deal.
Eight weeks after the announcement, on July 7, 2026, TrussPoint announced it had selected ServiceTitan as the operating software for its portfolio, Runyon & Sons included. "Our role is not to replace what makes these companies special, but to provide the resources, processes and support that allow them to realize their full potential," Colony said then.
The Runyon family had run this business for more than six decades before it joined a platform that was eleven months old. The two announcements show how that works in practice. The May release gave Todd Runyon the line on keeping the company's local identity. The July announcement committed Runyon & Sons to the same operating software as every other TrussPoint brand. For this buyer, the name on the trucks and the system behind the office are separate questions, and both were answered within two months of the deal. An owner weighing a sale should get both answers, not just the first, in writing before signing.
None of TrussPoint's earlier brands is based in Ohio, which makes Runyon & Sons its only local reference. Our guide to selling a roofing business to private equity covers the other questions to settle before that conversation.
