MARS Energy Group acquired Sequoia Roofing & Construction, a residential and commercial roofing contractor in Shingle Springs, California, in a deal announced May 6, 2026. MARS bought Solar Savings Direct, which does business as Solar and Roof Direct, at the same time. The release names Jeremy Read chief executive of both companies. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Sequoia serves the Greater Sacramento–Foothills area, including Sacramento, Cameron Park and Placerville. It installs, replaces and repairs asphalt shingle, tile, metal and TPO roofs, handles storm and leak repair, and also does gutters, siding, window replacement, solar roof installation and commercial roofing. It is a GAF Master Elite, CertainTeed Master and Mule-Hide certified contractor, offers 50-year manufacturer-backed warranties, and holds California contractor license 1064775.
Together, the release says, Sequoia and Solar Savings Direct provide residential solar, battery storage and roofing across California to production homebuilders and homeowners, specializing in new-construction installations, reroofing and retrofit solar projects.
The companies will continue to operate under their existing leadership during the transition, with Read, Jessica Gluck, Kyle Baker, Gabriel Munoz and Robert Williams remaining in key roles. They keep their current branding in the near term and are expected to move to the MARS Home Solutions name later.
"Our customers should expect complete continuity in relationships, service, and delivery," Read said. "What changes is our capacity to scale."
MARS Energy Group is a Rocklin, California, holding company that builds and scales energy infrastructure businesses across the United States, delivering solar, storage, roofing and electrification for residential and commercial customers and developers. It also designs, builds and maintains commercial solar, energy storage and EV charging projects nationwide.
In November 2025, its subsidiary Solara Home Energy acquired California Premier Roofscapes and Custom Roofscapes, together CalPrem Roofing, along with CWD Loma, or CalPrem Solar. Those companies had served California homebuilders for more than 17 years, and MARS counted them as its sixth and seventh acquisitions. It counts Sequoia and Solar Savings Direct as its ninth and tenth.
MARS says the new pair makes it "a preeminent player in the Northern California region, in addition to its leading market presence in Southern California," and that it now offers "a more coordinated service model across both new construction and retrofit markets, including reroofing and residential solar installations."
"MARS invests in high-quality operators with strong execution, customer focus, and the ability to adapt in dynamic markets," said Manvendra Saxena, chairman and CEO. He called the team's ability "to continue growing the business in a post-NEM 2.0 environment" impressive.
MARS is an energy holding company rather than a roofing consolidator, and it bought Sequoia less than six months after CalPrem. CalPrem served production homebuilders; Sequoia is a reroof and repair contractor serving homeowners, the retrofit half of the model MARS describes. For a residential roofer in California, that puts solar and energy companies in the buyer set alongside roofing platforms.
Sequoia also did not sell on its own. MARS bought it alongside the solar installer that shared its chief executive and describes the two as one provider: the roofer changed hands as half of a roofing-and-solar pair, not as a standalone contractor.
