Technique Roofing Systems Acquired by Skybound, Keeping Brand and Leaders

What happened

Skybound Service Partners announced on July 15, 2026, that it had acquired Technique Roofing Systems, a commercial roofing contractor headquartered in Helena, Ohio. Technique was one of three acquisitions in the same announcement, alongside David M. Maines & Associates of Lewistown, Pennsylvania, and Unicoat Industrial Roofing of Bradenton, Florida. The announcement did not include financial terms.

The seller

Kurt, Keith, and John Timmons founded Technique Roofing Systems in 1992. In 2006 the company opened a second office in St. Henry, Ohio, the hometown of Bill Wourms, then a 19-year roofing veteran. It is headquartered in Helena, keeps a regional office in Pittsburgh, and works across Ohio, western Pennsylvania and the wider Midwest.

The work is commercial and industrial roofing: new installations, replacements, leak repair, silicone roof coatings, and skylights. Technique is a Duro-Last Platinum Contractor and installs only Duro-Last material on commercial roofs, and its family team has installed more than 20 million square feet of roofing.

School districts are a visible part of the customer base. Technique has roofed more than 200,000 square feet across the North Canton City School District since 2019 and has been the district's preferred roofing partner since 2022. At Manchester Local Schools in New Franklin, after another contractor's full tear-off proposal came in far over budget, Technique recommended a re-roof and priced it across three buildings rather than one.

The buyer

Skybound is a commercial roofing services platform founded in June 2025 and backed by Garnett Station Partners, a New York principal investment firm founded in 2013 that manages approximately $4.5 billion of assets. Jack Miner is its founder and Joe Dougherty its chief executive. Its first two partners joined in summer 2025: Roof Technology Partners, founded in Woodstock, Georgia, and Quality Trusted Commercial Construction & Roofing, founded in Minneapolis. With this year's three acquisitions and greenfield operations opened in Houston, Dallas, Birmingham and Chicago over the past 12 months, the platform counts five partner companies across nine branch locations.

Skybound concentrates on roof replacements, service and specialty repair for commercial customers, and gives its partners shared technology: AI tools, drone roof inspections, construction management and estimating software, and predictive analytics. It reports more than 15% organic growth across the portfolio.

What this means for commercial roofing owners

Technique is the only one of Skybound's five partner companies headquartered in Ohio, so a platform whose Midwest locations had been in Minnesota and Illinois now has a family contractor working school, commercial, and industrial roofs across Ohio and western Pennsylvania.

Skybound says all five of its partners have kept their brand names and local leadership teams.
