Skybound Service Partners, a commercial roofing services platform, has acquired Unicoat Industrial Roofing Corp., a roof restoration contractor headquartered in Bradenton, Florida. Skybound announced the deal on July 15, 2026, together with its acquisitions of David M. Maines & Associates of Lewistown, Pennsylvania, and Technique Roofing Systems of Helena, Ohio. Financial terms were not disclosed.
David Kessler founded Unicoat in 2000. He had spent more than 20 years at two leading coating manufacturers before that, training contractors across the country in application, system design and warranty compliance.
Unicoat restores commercial and industrial roofs instead of replacing them. It applies silicone, elastomeric, urethane and aluminum coatings and spray polyurethane foam over metal, modified bitumen, built-up and single-ply roofs, and sells annual maintenance plans, inspections and repairs alongside that work. The company has installed more than 4 million gallons of coatings. In 2010 it moved to a no-subcontractor model, and its own full-time crews install every job. Its work spans warehouses and distribution centers, manufacturing plants, condominiums, shopping centers, self-storage, schools, government and military facilities, airports and marinas.
Unicoat began expanding across states east of the Mississippi in 2018. Beyond Bradenton, it has offices in Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina.
All five of Skybound's partner companies, Unicoat among them, have kept their brand names and local leadership teams. The Business Observer reported that Unicoat keeps its management team and employees.
Garnett Station Partners, a New York principal investment firm that manages about $4.5 billion in assets, launched Skybound in June 2025. Jack Miner is Skybound's founder, and Joe Dougherty became chief executive that September. The platform describes its work as roof replacements, service and specialty repairs for commercial customers. It credits its technology, including AI tools, drone roof inspections and estimating software, with organic growth of more than 15% across its portfolio.
Unicoat is one of five contractors Skybound has acquired, and the only one founded in Florida. The two earlier partners joined in summer 2025: Roof Technology Partners of Woodstock, Georgia, which does new construction, re-roofing and service work across the Southeast and Texas, and Quality Trusted Commercial Construction & Roofing of Minneapolis, which installs large-scale TPO, EPDM and modified bitumen systems. In the past 12 months Skybound has also opened branches from scratch in Houston, Dallas, Birmingham and Chicago, and it now counts nine branch locations.
Asked what drove the deal, Dougherty told the Business Observer: "Unicoat has a long history in providing value-engineered, high-quality roofing systems in the roofing coatings product category. They serve customers throughout the Southeast and into the Midwest. Skybound's unique organic growth process provides a path for Unicoat to scale into new geographies in the years ahead."
Skybound's 2025 partners install and replace roofs. Unicoat restores them with coatings, and when Dougherty was asked why Skybound bought it, the coatings category was the first thing he named.
The deal also added territory in one step. In the same 12 months that Skybound built four branches from scratch, a single acquisition gave it a Florida headquarters and regional offices across the Southeast and into Ohio and Virginia, staffed by crews Unicoat employs directly.
